Our story began in 1982, under circumstances strikingly similar to those that led to the founding of our mother church, the New Estate Baptist Church (NEBC) in Surulere. At the time, the Lagos State Government had relocated families displaced from Oluwole on Lagos Island to a newly developing community in Ogba. Most of the resettled families were Muslims, and the need for focused evangelistic outreach became urgent. Around the same period, Pa Deacon and Mrs. Adebiyi Akinsemoyin (both of blessed memory) moved from Surulere to the Lagos State Government Quarters in Ogba, close to the Oluwole resettlement area. Sensing a spiritual need in the growing community, NEBC responded by planting a preaching station in Ogba with two core objectives:

  • To reach out to the resettled families with the Gospel of Christ, many of whom were Muslims.
  • To provide a place of worship for Christians settling in the area—offering them a spiritual home and shielding them from false doctrines or the danger of spiritual backsliding.

On Sunday, May 9, 1982, the inaugural service of the preaching station took place in the sitting room of the Akinsemoyin family at Block 19, Flat 67, Government Quarters, Ogba. In attendance were neighbors and children from the community. The service was led by Rev. Emmanuel Bolarinwa and Deacon Lekan Dosunmu, both of NEBC, who played key roles in founding the station. From these humble beginnings, the Lord has grown TNCBC into a vibrant, spirit-led church committed to sound teaching, community service, and raising faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarreled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, “Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land.”

Genesis 26:22 NIV
